Group Enrollment ~ Schools Only

Group Enrollment Process for JVA
The enrollment window for 2018/2019 Group Enrollments will open in the coming months.  Community Liaisons will be in touch with schools as soon as details are determined.

We see ourselves as a partner in education, able to provide advanced level classes and electives that are unavailable at a given school. To ensure we have the staffing and seats available for group enrollment requests, the following process is important:

  1. Schools will identify two positions (which may be filled by the same person): a main contact and a Site Coordinator. The main contact handles the enrollment piece while the Site Coordinator oversees students as they work in their online class(es) during the school day.
  2. The main contact goes to to fill out the Group Enrollment Application by the deadline.
  3. Once received, our staff will contact the school to set up a shared Google Doc. This document will be completed by the partnering school to identify the specific students requesting enrollment and the class(es) desired.
  4. The documented request will be evaluated by JVA's administration to approve or deny based on staffing and seat availability.
  5. The Site Coordinator will complete an online training provided by JVA to prepare him/her to support our online students from their traditional classroom.
  6. Students will be enrolled and scheduled based on the approved requests. Until this point in the process, no seats are officially saved.

Responsibilities of JVA: Provide a highly qualified teacher and the online curriculum for the requested class(es). Students are able to message their online teacher for help and set up virtual meetings at any time. Please note: Classes are taught in a fully online model. At times, teachers have visited a school site to make a connection with students, but these visits are not guaranteed.

Responsibilities of the partnering school: Provide computers, headphones and microphones for each student enrolled. Provide Site Coordinator, teacher or para, to oversee students during the time they're scheduled to work on their online class(es). For students accelerating in math and skipping a grade level, the school will also ensure that students are exposed to the content being skipped and support students if skill gaps are evident.
